The Cardinal Treasures

Introduction
The Cardinal Treasures are used to call forth the elemental and seasonal forces using the Cardinal Gates, and/or to more-fully open the Cardinal Gates such that mortal creatures can (intentionally) pass through them into the Elemental Realms. They can also allow non-mortal creatures associated with some elements or seasons access to those other than their own (for example, Dwarves, who are normally associated with the element of Earth and who have access to the Earth Realm, can use the Cardinal Treasures of Air to gain access to the Air Realm).
First, the Cardinal Stones or Gate Keys are used to unlock the gates, then the Cardinal [cups? fuels? ewers?] are used to fuel the Cardinal Beacons, then the Cardinal Lights or Gate Torches are used to light the Cardinal Beacons, and finally the Cardinal Calls or Gate Horns are used to sound the charges.
The Cardinal Stones represent the element of earth; the Cardinal [cups? ewers? fuels?] represent the element of water; the Cardinal Calls represent the element of air; the Cardinal Lights represent the element of fire.
These are some of the most powerful magical artefacts in Palaeoboreanic mythology; they were even powerful enough that some of them could allow mortals to withstand the negative effects of using the Power-stones of Fate.
The Cardinal Stones
The Cardinal Stones, also known as the Keys to the Cardinal Gates or simply Gate Keys. The Gate Keys are, as the name implies, necessary for unlocking the Cardinal Gates. In addition, they grant their bearers psychokinetic power over the various elemental and seasonal forces of nature. With more practice, their bearers can learn to conjure various elementals and subelementals. With even more practice, their bearers can learn to enthrall various non-mortal wights (Elves, Dwarves, Ogres, &c.) as well as various dragons and dragonlike creatures. With more practice still, their bearers can learn to summon various non-mortal wights, dragons, and dragonlike creatures.

The Cardinal [Fuels? Cups? Ewers?]
The Cardinal [blank], also known as the [blank] to the Cardinal Gates or simply Gate [blanks]. The Gate [Ewers? Cups? Fuels?] are necessary to fuel the Cardinal Beacons, which are ignited by the Cardinal Lights.
The Cardinal Calls
The Cardinal Calls, also known as the Sounders to the Cardinal Gates or simply Gate Horns. The Gate Calls are necessary for sounding the charge atop the Cardinal Gates. Additionally, they confer upon their bearers the ability to enthrall various non-mortal wights (Elves, Dwarves, Ogres, &c.) as well as various dragons and dragonlike beings. With not much more practice, their bearers can learn to summon various non-mortal wights, dragons, dragonlike beings. With even more practice, their bearers can learn to conjure elementals and subelementals. With more practice still, their bearers can learn to psychokinetically control the elements while playing the instruments.

The Cardinal Lights
The Cardinal Lights, also known as the Lamps to the Cardinal Gates or simply Gate Torches. The Gate Torches are necessary for lighting the Cardinal Beacons atop the Cardinal Gates. Additionally, they confer upon their bearers the ability to conjure various elementals and subelementals within the radius of their glow. With more practice, their bearers can learn to psychokinetically control the elements and subelemental properties. With even more practice, their bearers can learn to enthrall non-mortal wights (Elves, Dwarves, Ogres, &c.) as well as dragons and dragonlike beings. With more practice still, their bearers can learn to summon various non-mortal wights, dragons, and dragonlike beings.
