Serenity

Serentiy’s Sorrow

Beneath the eldest sun-sprent shades
of the far-off Emerald Forest deep,
amid those hallow’d, ancient glades,
a band of Woodnymphs keep.
When eternal youth and beauty fail
to bind a heart immortal rent,
thus begins the hapless tale:
A Dryad’s dark descent.

They frolicked and played through the greenest of holts, napped by cover of dark forest glade, and made love by hot kells in lush glens. Never was there thought of worry or concern to burden their merry hearts. Until, one day, poor Serenity was forlorn.

Apocryphal Version

This version appears in The Book of Erotomancy, an apocryphal collection of ancient Palaeoboreanic sex stories and love stories based on Palaeoboreanic mythology. Romantic and/or erotic ancient Borean fan fiction, essentially. It not only expanded on established relationships from Borean mythology (featuring erotic stories involving individuals already established in the mythology to have been romantic couples, for example), but it also featured “shipping” and “slash fiction” in the form of retroactive continuity (e.g., a particular pair of individuals were secretly a romantic couple or were secretly having sex, but the surviving mythology ostensibly failed to mention it).

Drayadic Apocryphal Version Sample

An elaborate version written almost completely in what appears to be a derivative of Proto-Sylvanic closely related to Old Sylvanese. This language has been occasionally referred to as “Drayadic”.

Legend holds that this version was written either by Serenity herself, or by one of her daughters to whom Serenity taught the Drayadic language and told her stories. Modern-day Palaeoboreanic apologists often argue this to be the case. Critics point out that there is a significant “male gaze” in the description of the Woodland Nymphs, implying it could not have been written by a female. Counter-arguments to this criticism include: (1) it is inappropriate to apply modern Western gender stereotypes to ancient societies; (2) the Woodland Nymphs were a different species, Homo nymphe, an entirely parthenogenetic species in which there were no males and reproduction was stimulated by pseudocopulatory behavior between females, making it a very reasonable assumption that females of their species might have evolved a “male gaze”; and (3) the Drayadic version is written in exorbitantly long, flowing, description-rich sentences that many (human) readers have difficulty following, possibly indicating that it was written by a creature with a longer attention span than modern humans (as one would expect of an extremely long-lived species such as Nymphs).

Erotomancy §αI¶I., HT (Drayadic): Very much unseen, long ago, far beyond the bounds of mortal humankind, amidst the wild and shimmering woodlands of the great Jade Forest bordering the liminal, alien Fay-Lands of Alfheim that occulted the invisible world of Faerie from this fleeting mortal-world, thrived in those ghostly mists a band of Woodland Nymphs, numbering but thirteen, whose names were Takayo, Faenayo, Mitsayo, Raodayo, Simikayo, Aameyo, Valiyo, Muolayo, Tanguiyo, Muoleyo, Kihiyo, Tsokiuhayo, and Samiyo. Theirs was the beauty of eternal spring, virginity and ardor, wisdom and naivety, fervor and restraint. More wonderful were these adorable Wood-Wights than any mortal woman had ever imagined being, fairer were they beyond measure than any mortal maiden had ever before been seen by a mortal man, and more alluring were these callipygian beings than any which covered beneath broad shade of canopy’s boughs had ever therein been before: Dryads bearing faces fair and by faint dustings of freckles spotted, adorned by light tan, or by red coiffure, or gold-glimmer of light manes flowing down their heads, or framed by fiery red or reddish-blonde hair, while beneath their pretty brows sat eyes either of brightly bespangled blue or aglow with gleaming green, or of still some shade between the two, while their physiques’ forms were sculpted lithely about their slender centers, yet also buxom were their shapes; beset with large, round breasts fixed high upon their chests, borne far above the waspish waists and slightly concave stomachs, before which proudly stood their uplifted breasts, and below which were these attractive wights bestowed the meatiest of round buttocks sloping perfectly from the backs of their tight waists behind powerful hips, for strongly thus beneath round-butted hindquarters were they limbed each nimbly upon slender legs. Propertied such undying beauty were these and all Nymphs that yet the least of them was possessed of a face sculpted forever so softly and so perfectly as to undoubtedly have raptured the breath from any living man, and also a form of such bellitude, so supple and buxom in its every blessed proportion, as to surely have taken the might from still the strongest of men. And no mortal woman dared delude her mind to dream herself match to such evermore delicately beautiful maidens. All throughout their palliative days frolicked and romped these lascivious maids through the greenest of holts, and they napped by cover of shade-dappled glades, and they fucked by hot springs in lush glens. Never was among them the slightest thought of worry or concern to burden their merrisome hearts, and never had they known true sorrow. Until, very late one morning, poor Serenity had grown forlorn.

Propertied such amaranthine feature were these and all Nymphs that yet the least of them was possessed of a face forever so softly and perfectly hewn as to doubtless have rapt from any living man his breath, and also so supple and sonsie in its every proportion blest a form of such bellitude as to surely have reft from still the strongest of men his might. [1] “Ten”, or 10 (one, zero), in Borean base-13; this is equal to thirteen, or 13 (one, three), in the Arabic base-10 that we modern speakers of European languages use. For more information, see Palæoboreanic Mathematics.

[2] The English word nates is generally pronounced /NEY-teez/ or /NAH-teez/, having been borrowed from the Latin nates, which is the plural form of the singular natis, for “buttock”. However, the sentence flows much better if the word is instead pronounced /neytz/, justifiable by assuming a fictional etymology through a hypothetical English singular “nate”, pronounced /neyt/, an Anglicization of the Latin singular natis.
