Characters from “The Sovereignty Cycle”

Introduction

All of the names here are as “translations” rendered as names fromm real-world languages. This is temporary; all of these names will shortly be replaced by appropriate names in the Palæoboreanic language family.

This list contains information about the characters that may spoil certain stories or plot developments.

Lodin’s Family

A prominent family in The Sovereignty Cycle.

Aldwin — father of Lodin, friend of Rowan.

BLANK Aldwinswife — first wife of Aldwin, mother of Lodin.

BLANK Richardsdottir/Aldwinswife — sister of Rowan Richardson, second wife of Aldwin, mother of Lakara, step-mother of Lodin.

Lodin (Lodilu) Aldwinson — son of Aldwin. Lodin serves as the hero, or at least the main protagonist, in a number of tales. Lodin is eventually betrothed to Kara Rowansdottir, but the two never marry.

BLANK Aldwinsdottir — daughter of Aldwin.

The Rowans

The Rowan family was central to many of the events of The Sovereignty Cycle

Stormy the Red

BLANK Richardsdottir/Aldwinswife — sister of Rowan Richardson, second wife of Aldwin, mother of Lakara, step-mother of Lodin.

Rowan Richardson — son of Richard Harcroft and Stormy the Red, husband of Larissa Rowanswife, father of Kyra, step-father of Alara & Laralyn, father of Kara and Jady, friend of Aldwin. Rowan was raised a pirate, but later “retired” to become a merchant. Originally a black marketeer, Rowan freed Serenity from slavery and reformed himself in order to give her a better life. It was then that he and Serenity (now named Larissa Rowanswife) moved to Beowyn with the help of Rowan’s paladin friend, Aldwin.

Jenna Rowanswife (Zhenaya Raadinawana) — first wife of Rowan Richardson,

Serenity / Larissa Rowanswife (Larisala Raadinawana) — second wife of Rowan Richardson, step-mother of Kyra, mother of Alara & Laralyn, Kara, Jady, and Lyra.

Kyrithigatra Rowansdottir (Kiridekatarila Raadinalana) — daughter of Rowan and his late first wife, older paternal step-sister of Lara Rowansdottir, older paternal half-sister of Kara Rowansdottir and Jady Rowansdottir.

Lara Rowansdottir (Larala Raadinalana), later known as Laralyn Lyriana (Laralinila Lirelana) — daughter of Lyrian and Larissa, twin sister of Alara Rowansdottir (later known as Alara Lyriana), younger paternal step-sister of Kyra Rowansdottir, older maternal half-sister of Kara Rowansdottir and Jady Rowansdottir. Laralyn is the only woman in history to have become a knight in the Mortiferean military.

Alara Rowansdottir (Alarala Raadinalana), later known as Alara Lyriana (Alarala Lirelana) — daughter of Lyrian and Larissa, twin sister of Laralyn Rowansdottir (later known as Laralyn Lyriana), younger paternal step-sister of Kyra Rowansdottir, older maternal half-sister of Kara Rowansdottir and Jady Rowansdottir. Alara is the only woman in history to have been dubbed a priestess in the otherwise largely misogynistic Mortiferean religion, owing not merely to her great beauty but to her popularity as a seeress and apparent usefulness as an oracle during a series of military successes against the Eurinthian Confederacy.

Kara Rowansdottir (Karila Raadinalana) — daughter of Rowan and Larissa Rowanswife, younger paternal half-sister of Kyra Rowansdottir, younger maternal half-sister of the twins Laralyn & Alara Rowansdottir/Lyrian, older sister of Jady Rowansdottir, older half-sister of Lyra Lyrian. The name Karila literally means “stormy one”, “fiery one”, or “wild one”, and is thus essentially a synonym for the name Radila (the wandering Earth-goddess of Palæoboreanic religion). Kara was named for her grandmother, Stormy the Red.

Tara “Jady” Rowansdottir (Tarila “Zhadila” Raadinalana) — daughter of Rowan and Larissa Rowanswife, younger half-sister of Kyra Rowandottir, younger half-sister of the twins Laralyn & Alara Rowansdottir/Lyrian, younger sister of Kara Rowansdottir, older half-sister of Lyra Lyrian. Earned the eckname “Jady” as a child after an accident that resulted in someone’s death. Zhadila literally means, “jade-like” or “emerald-like” but connotatively means “beautiful but dangerous”, a reference to the Palæoboreanic word, zhaduli, the term for any of a number of attractive green stones or gems known to be at least conditionally toxic, such as serpentine, emerald, malachite, green moldavite, or green tourmaline, and is related to the adjective zhadali-, “jaded”. Shortly after this, Jady ran away from home and took up a life of thievery.

Lyra Lyrianna (Lirala Lirelana) — daughter of Larissa Rowanswife, younger sister of Laralyn & Alara Rowansdottir/Lyrian, younger half-sister of Kara Rowansdottir and Jady Rowansdottir.

The Lyrians

The Lyrian family was central to many of the events of The Sovereignty Cycle. Some of those listed here are redundant with individuals listed under the Rowan family.

Laralyn Rowansdottir (Laralinila Raadinalana), later known as Laralyn Lyriana (Laralinila Lirelana) — daughter of Lyrian and Larissa, twin sister of Alara Rowansdottir (later known as Alara Lyriana), younger paternal step-sister of Kyra Rowansdottir, older maternal half-sister of Kara Rowansdottir and Jady Rowansdottir.

Alara Rowansdottir (Alarala Raadinalana), later known as Alara Lyriana (Alarala Lirelana) — daughter of Lyrian and Larissa, twin sister of Laralyn Rowansdottir (later known as Laralyn Lyriana), younger paternal step-sister of Kyra Rowansdottir, older maternal half-sister of Kara Rowansdottir and Jady Rowansdottir.

Lynara Lyriana (Amirala Lirelana) — daughter of Lyrian and his first wife; older half-sister of the twins Laralyn & Alara Rownsdottir/Lyriana, and older half-sister of Lyra Lyriana.

Lyra Lyriana (Lirala Lirelana) — daughter of Larissa Rowanswife, younger sister of the twins Laralyn & Alara Rowansdottir/Lyriana, younger half-sister of Kara Rowansdottir and Jady Rowansdottir.

Current Status

I’m currently trying to rebuild my life after having suffered some devastating losses in my battles against public corruption in Pacific County, Washington and Lewis County, Washington. I lost a great deal of my artwork and writing during those battles, among other possessions, and was forced into homelessness by the corrupt authorities in those counties on more than one occasion. If you support the arts and sciences and disdain public corruption, please consider donating to me via PayPal or supporting me on Patreon. All donations will go toward funding my school career and giving me more time to create content (i.e., my goal is to be able to quit the part-time job that's paying for my housing, so that I might instead spend more of my time outside of school writing and creating art).
